Photo Conference 2021 concludes
Society for Conservation Biology Nepal successfully organized its first-ever photo conference on the occasion of world environment day, June 5, 2021. The main aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity to all interested people from all walks of life to submit their digital photos taken in Nepal under various thematic areas and share the story behind the photo. The conference took place through a virtual platform i.e. via Zoom. There were more than hundred participants who registered and participated in this conference.
The conference was started by the session chair Dr Prakash Kumar Paudel, President of SCB Nepal. The keynote session included two presentations from an imminent expert in the field. Dr Mahendra Shrestha, Research Associate, Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, USA delivered the keynote talks on “Linking Science to Practices in Conservation: Experiences across the World”.
Mr. Bed Khadka, a conservation practitioner, former Conservation officer, Chitwan National Park delivered another keynote talk on “Making Conservation a reality: A Case of Gharial and other Conservation in Chitwan, Nepal”.
The conference included 3 technical sessions, each consisting 10 photos. Mr Rishi Baral, THC Photography and Mr. Pramod Neupane were announced the winners of the Photo Conference 2021 and were awarded with a certificate and cash prize of Rs.20000, Rs.15000 and Rs.10000 respectively.
